ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful quote, with the telling conjunction "but" where "and" would leave what he believes to be true in the 3rd line sounding like less of a consolation for what he believes to be true in the 1st. I read the remark as enlivened by internal doubt as to the first assertion; I suppose I'm slow, to notice that, but it allows me to regard the quote as beautiful. In any case the photography is very well handled.
