goodbye dear summer
and doctor surf...
"these are the last of the last
i promise you...
one more berry crumble, no more."
and we took off our wetsuits
and the warm berry smell filled the house from the oven,
and the sun went down
over the beautiful pacific.
shamelessly glad to see the berries one more time; but now to smell them !
ReplyDeletethieving
ReplyDeleteis instrumental
in successful berry picking laurent
but i am always happy to share a piece of pie
if caught.
ever since the Enclosure Movement I've been skeptical that thieving can ever be substantiated, it being impossible to cite the bee for its enhancement of a neighbor's crop from what had been held in common; the minor for intent, straying uphill backwards into that domain, to watch the sun go down; or, heaven help us all and then some, a mother for misprision, who tends the sociably expanded brood as the original field did, before the ignominious fence.
ReplyDeletenow, scarfing up the onyxes from the window at Shreve's, yes, you might make out a case for suspicious conduct from that; but for a piece of pie I'll mull it over, and see what precedents exonerate it.
